About Me

  • About Me: Well, I'm not great at describing myself, so how about I describe my blog instead? The purpose here is to have fun, find my inner writer's voice, entertain, provoke thought and discussion, be read, get feedback, inform, and overall just to write. I may not always be sophisticated or philosophical, but I will try my best to always be interesting. :) Oh, and if you spam or leave hateful, rude, or offensive comments on my site, I will delete them. So, if that's your idea of fun, you might as well go somewhere else.

Style

  • Where I shop: Kohl's, the mall, and other department stores. Kohl's a lot. I love them.
  • I like to wear: jeans, long beaded necklaces, earrings, sunglasses, high heels, sweatshirts, yoga pants, cute skirts, dresses, pink
  • Can't live without: jeans, sunglasses, and ponytail holders

Travel

  • Places I love: Texas, Italy
  • Places I've been: Italy, England for a few hours while I waited for a layover and was extremely sleep-deprived, California, Disney World (when I was 5 or 6), New Mexico, Colorado
  • Places to see before I die: England (again, more of it this time, and for longer), Canada, France, Greece, Japan, Disney World (again when I'll remember it. lol), lots of places

Movies

  • Favorite Movies: Enchanted, Escaflowne: The Movie, Ever After, Labyrinth, The Little Mermaid, Little Miss Sunshine, Merlin (with Sam Neil), Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail, Moulin Rouge, Peter Pan (Disney Classic and 2003 version), Serenity, Uptown Girls
  • Favorite Actors: Summer Glau, Patrick Dempsey, Robin Williams, Julia Roberts, Jackie Chan, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Thomas Dekker, Ed Westwick, Leighton Meester, Michael Seater, Ashley Leggat
  • Movie Quotes I say all the time: "Smeeellll baaaad." XD It's from Labyrinth. Ludo says it in The Bog of Eternal Stench and it just cracks me up every time I think of it. Plus, the opportunity to say it comes up pretty often. I also used to say "Are you suggesting coconuts are migratory?" a lot. That's "Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail, if you don't know. But who doesn't quote that movie from time to time? "She's a witch. She turned me into a newt." "...(looks about to comment that said guy is obviously mistaken)..." "...I got better." XD Oh, MPatSftHG, how I love you. :)
  • Movies I can watch over and over: See my favorites list.

Video Games

  • Games I Play: Guitar Hero (I, II, and III. I'm currently trying to tackle Aerosmith, which was a Christmas present, but it's pretty lame.), DDR, and I hope to soon purchase and rock out Rock Band. :)
  • Consoles: Playstation 2. I used to have a Sega Genesis, but I think it got lost when I moved in my sophomore year of high school. So sad. But I'm going to buy another one. And if I can't find my favorite old games, I'll see if I can track down those too. For the curious, those would be X-Men 2 (think I've still got it, thankfully), Lion King (OMG, so fun), and Aladdin (my cousins' game, but I want it. lol. I may actually have it...).
  • Favorite Characters: Aeris (FFVII) for the 5 people that don't know that XD), Cloud (FFVII), Vivi (FFIX), and Dagger (FFIX).
  • Gaming Alias: I only ever have one on friend's systems and it varies.
  • Favorite Classic Arcade Games: Galaga, Mrs. PacMan (had it on my Sega Genesis and I played the heck out of it).

Music

  • Favorite Artists: Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie, Dido, Fall Out Boy, Flyleaf, Garbage, The Killers, Madonna (80's to "Ray of Light"), Snow Patrol, Three Days Grace
  • Favorite Albums: "Eyes Open" - Snow Patrol, "Dreaming Out Loud" - OneRepublic, "Infinity on High" - Fall Out Boy, "Sam's Town" - The Killers, "Hot Fuss" - The Killers, "Flyleaf" - Flyleaf, "X&Y"

  • Favorite Songs: "All the Same" - Sick Puppies, "Apologize" - OneRepublic, "Big Machine" - Goo Goo Dolls, "Body" - The Servants, "Chocolate" - Snow Patrol, "Make This Go On Forever" - Snow Patrol, "Open Your Eyes" - Snow Patrol, "Signal Fire" - Snow Patrol, "Somewhere a Clock is Ticking" - Snow Patrol, "Think Twice" - Eve 6, "Right Here" - Staind, "To Build a Home" - The Cinematic Orchestra, "With or Without You" - U2
  • Favorite Lyrics: changes too often
  • Songs for Roadtrips: anything good
  • Songs I hate: The Barney theme song, the DMC version of "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith, and more I can't think of.
  • Guilty Pleasure: I don't feel guilty about the music I like unless it's influencing me in a negative way and then I try to stop listening to it.
  • Songs I repeat the most: all-time favorites and whatever I'm loving at the moment
  • Band I wish I was in: If I were to be in a band, then it would have to be one that would never get famous. Playing some clubs or something would be fun. And though it doesn't ask, I'd be the lead singer. I play the piano too, but I'd much rather sing, especially since I make less mistakes with my vocals than with my fingers.

More About Me

  • Nationality: I'm a mutt. I'm part Cherokee, Irish, Scottish, English, French, Belgian, and the list goes on.
  • Religion: Christianity
  • Interests: music, books, writing, psychology, photography, art, foreign countries, foreign cultures, how the brain works, the mind-body connection, helping others

  • Most Addictive Show: General Hospital or Gossip Girl

Books

  • Favorite Books: Confessions of a Shopaholic series - Sophie Kinsella, "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" - Gregory Maguire, "Dreamland" - Sarah Dessen, Katie Chandler series - Shanna Swendson, Harry Potter series - J. K. Rowling, Maximum Ride series - James Patterson, "Old Magic" - Marianne Curley, "Peter Pan" - J. M. Barrie, Twilight series - Stephenie Meyer
  • Favorite Authors: Sarah Dessen is probably the only author so far that I consistently love. I love her style because it's descriptive without getting wordy and she always has great character development in her stories. Plus, there's always a happy ending to follow her interesting stories. (This isn't to say that a book isn't good without a happy ending, but it's nice.)
  • Favorite Genres: Teen, Psychological, Fiction, Non-Harlequin Romance (no detailed sex scenes and give me a plot please), Biography. But I like to read a little of everything.
  • Favorite Characters: (constantly changing)
  • Favorite Quotes: I have way too many to list them all here, but I'll give you a few of my current favorites: "'Love stories are written in millimeters and milliseconds with a fast, dull pencil whose marks you can barely see,' Fuse said. 'They are written in miles and eons with a chisel on the side of a mountain-top." - p. 236, from "Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac" by Gabrielle Zevin<br/> <br/> “There's something…strange about the way you two are together,” she murmured, her forehead creasing over her troubled eyes. “The way he watches you—it’s so…protective. Like he's about to throw himself in front of a bullet to save you or something.” – p. 67, "Eclipse" by Stephenie Meyer <br/> <br/> "For the longest time after that, neither of us said anything. I was unaccustomed to his silence, but I didn't mind it. I knew near everything about him, and he knew near everything about me, and all that made our quiet a kind of song. The kind you hum without even knowing what it is or why you're humming it. The kind that you've always known." - p. 271, "Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac" by Gabrielle Zevin
